    I found this image on Twitter of a pipe major in the Crimean War. I wish I could see it in color.

    I think I'm right in saying that he was a member of the 72nd, Duke of Albany's and as such wore the Prince Charles Edward tartan. That being the case, the colouration is a bit off. What appears to be pink in the tartan should be light blue.

    I really appreciate you adding the color. Along with the tartan, it really shows off the sporran. It definitely seems like a working uniform and not just an outfit for special occasions.

    It is Pipe-Major John Macdonald, 72 Regiment of Foot (The Duke of Albany's Own Highlanders), 1856.
    He wears Pipers full dress uniform.
