My Scottish Youth :Sir Robert Bruce Lockhart

I have just finished reading a book My Scottish Youth by Sir Robert Bruce Lockhart

This is a fascinating book which is full of references to his kilt wearing for school and home where he was given kilts by relatives as a present and describes having to wear a Dress Tartan kilt for special occasions for any one who likes the kilt its a very good book his father was a headmaster at speirs school in Beith where the boarders had to wear kilts this was in the 1880s his father later set up a prep school seafeild at broughty ferry near Dundee and the kilt was part of the uniform.

Lockhart would become a real life James Bond the book was originally published in 1937 but reprinted in 1993

I would have loved to go to a school wear the kilt was the uniform
