The Quest of the Quaich - Voyage II begins
Greetings to the Great Rabble!
The X-Marks Quaich is on the move again! Friday, August 2nd, Steve Ashton, returning to Canada from Kilt Kamp, brought the fabulous, well-travelled, and storied X-Marks Quaich with him. The log book had already been signed by the Kilt Kampers (Photos elsewhere and to follow, I'm sure) and arrived here smiling. The Quaich has indeed travelled and has a couple of minor scratches to show its authenticity, but it is a large one, and a thing of beauty indeed.
Steve and I had never met in person until now, although we've certainly corresponded, phoned, and skyped more than a few times, so it was a real joy to host him here overnight - more than a wee way out of his path. Thanks for coming by, Steve!
In the morning, before he left, he passed the Quaich to my keeping, with permission to keep it for double the usual two-week limit... because of a special event which it will attend. More about that in due course, but I'll keep you apprised of a couple of adventures between now and then!
Slainte!

Great to see the quaich out and about again at the start of its great eastward adventure. Cheers to all that have the quaich visit.

I've got to say, as the fortunate Kamper to drain the last drop (or five) from the quaich at our closing dinner, that the whiskey never tasted so good, after all the hands that lifted it in fellowship and friendship, both at this camp, and on Voyage the first. May all who host it on the current Voyage, and taste from it, feel similar fellowship!

It seems to me with a quaich that large, if you are only draining "drops" from it, somebody is doing something wrong.

Au contraire, speaking quite figuratively, I assure you, quite figuratively. Others before me were perhaps a touch more abstemious than they needed. The nett effect was a healthy draught to seal the few words with which I wished the Quaich a Bon Voyage II!

I'm looking forward to following its journey!

Well, the famous world-trotting Quaich made another stop today, at Keltoi with John - Slohairt. Two friends of mine travelled with me to order kilts... and to meet the Quaich!
Left to right: Father Bill, Angus, Sandy, Slohairt.
Thanks John, for your kind welcome and looking forward to your skilled production!
By the way, for those who are eagle-eyed, yes, we did make a minor error.

That's either:
Forgot the fillings... or held it with the XMTS badge upside down!
Regardless, it's the next step on a voyage that many of us will be watching -- thanks for the update!
