Can someone recommend a proper baldrick for my basket hilt sword

I am having a Cas Hanwei Cromwell Mortuary sword shipped this week. (yes I know it isn't Scottish)

Some of you have baldricks for your sword. If you are pleased with yours, could you share where you got it and what is the proper name for is so I can look it up?

I would like to find one that the belt is not to wide but not to thin either.

    Thank

    Ray

I would second Medieval Collectables. I have ordered from them several times. I have also had good luck with these people:

    Good luck with your search.

You might also try Bold Blades: http://boldblades.com/html/basket_hilts.html

I've had good luck with them in the past.

Thanks for the two websites. I have some also bookmarked.

Which one do either of you own? How does it seat on your shoulder?

    Thanks

I have looked at both Medieval Collectibles and Museum Replicas but have not ordered from them. I couldn't tell the quality of the leather in the baldric and the frog I was looking for wouldn't fit the saber I wanted. That doesn't mean they don't have good products.

I don't own a baldric but I do have several other of their products the quality is good for the price. I have their warriors belt and a frog out of leather.

I've not purchased a baldric either, but found the vendor a pleasure to deal with when I purchased a targe from them a year or two ago.

On another note, I have a CAS Hanwei broadsword and backsword, and it seems to me that the hook for hanging the scabbard on the baldric is on the wrong side. I'm not sure if that's the case with the Cromwell mortuary sword as well, but it's something to consider.

I found the over the shoulder baldric to be a bit short for me. I 6'2" and long in the torso. But it fit my son just fine. The leather was a bit stiff, but functional.

Saddle soap or Murphy's Oil soap will knock it into shape and take out some unwelcome dyes that may stain your apparel.
