Weapons in everyday life
What are your opinions on carrying a sword as an everyday accessory, here in louisiana it is legal, I'm certain if you are dressed the part no one would notice the sword before they notice the kilt. So, what does the rabble think?

Think of it this way:
Suppose that there is a spectrum, not of colors, but of perceptions. The "shades" along that spectrum might be labeled as follows:
Normal----Slightly Out of Place----Eccentric---Strange---Deeply Weird and Possibly Dangerous
Wearing a kilt places one squarely into the "Eccentric" part of the spectrum, a place where I am happy to congregate with my fellows.
Except in a suitable environment (renfaires, games, etc. )adding a sword moves you considerably further to the right along that scale.
The goal, I think is to express individualism, without a wholesale departure from societal norms. A kilt is a grand way to do that. Walking around with a spadroon at your side is in my (not so damned humble, thank you very much!) opinion beyond the pale.

Best not, if you want to be taken seriously.

If you want to be taken seriously as a kilt wearer I definitely would stay away from wearing a sword. That is not a normal part of THCD these days.

There is the problem of, should I because it is legal to do so. Mississippi has an open carry of firearms law but I don't always "tote a hog leg".
Look to the environment where you think you would want the blade as an accessory. The first issue, from the public's perspective, who is this person and why is he dressed so differently. You can overwhelm them with "too much, too soon" as far as attire, when an explanation will suffice for now.

a 16 year old wants to carry a sword when he is already dressed in a manner that will draw possibly unwanted attention in his neighbor hood.does this really need to be commented on?

Just me, but the kilt would be entirely incidental to me - focus would be on the sword - only because in my teenage foolish years I was attacked by another teen waving a sword around and threatening to use it. I also know of people killed by drug crazed people who used a sword to cut them up most thoroughly. I like how they "peace tie" swords and other bladed weapons at Ren Fairs. Nope, if I encounter a person with sword don't think I'd notice anything they were wearing...would be focused on the sword.

There are a lot of things in this world that are legal but neither desireable nor sensible. Just because you "can" doesn't mean you "should"

I encourage you not to. It's not terribly practical and it may send an unintended message.
