A strongman competition on my birthday, in my home state?
Strongman is my background, I retired just over a year ago after going to nationals. I'm enjoying the pain free life of being 100lbs lighter without the 4000+ calories/day food bill. It's a fantastic sport with exceptional camaraderie, I wouldn't have changed the last 8 years of my life in the sport for anything.
Bring your kilt, but whatever you do, don't lift stones wearing it and get tacky on it. I always wore mine *after* the events were over and it was awards time.

How would someone find out about these on a smaller, local level? Not that I, personally, could compete in even a single one of the events described...Although, it would be a fun event to attend and watch.
My wife just laughs when I camp out in front of ESPN watching. She looks at me, then at the men competing and just rolls her eyes--as if to say, "You and I both know that there is never any chance of you competing...right?"

It's hit or miss because this is a non NAS sanctioned event, so no website where you have a big list. If the contest has been properly promoted then Google + your area should show something.

Yes, and if you don't care if it's sanctioned or not... you can always look up NAS competitions here.

This is a kilt friendly event, this is one of the reasons why I posted it here. Last Fall there were a number of guys competing in their kilts! So don your kilt & come on out!
