    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotlan...tland-25152462
Big Country will be among the bands to play at the Big Burns Supper event in Dumfries in January next year.
It is the third edition of the festival which is held at a number of venues across the town.
Other performers taking part in the 2014 supper include Dick Gaughan and the Mull Historical Society.
Organisers said that more acts would be announced soon for the event which is being staged from 24 to 26 January.
Big Country is a Scottish band founded in 1981 whose music style mixes rock and roll with traditional Scottish instruments such as the bagpipes and the fiddle.
Regional Director for Scotland for Clan Cunningham International, and a Scottish Armiger.

Well I don't listen to much "hip hop" (modern music!) myself but my wife is very excited. It sounds like a good weekend; I might have to look into a little trip.

Well, if you listen to Big Country you still won't be listening to hip-hop.

In A Big Country was a huge hit here in the US:

I always liked this song but never really heard anything else they ever did.

There won't be a Burns Supper hosted by xmarks member Pour1Malt at Ferintosh Guest House in Dumfries over the weekend of 24th to 26th January but he tells me that he does still have rooms available for that weekend.

Oh my! Big Country! Now there's a blast from my past. I used to love them. I hope someone from Xmarks gets to attend that event. I'm sure it will be a ball.

lol! I say the same thing about everything after 1990....well, in the commercial rock world anyway...because commercial anything all sounds the same...good thing there are tons of underground (or even just less commercial) bands that do new and exciting things.
