Blairsville Games
I'm a bit surprised to see no one has mentioned the Blairsville Highland Games in Blairsville, Georgia (for those on other shores, a
remote region in the southeastern United States. https://blairsvillescottishfestival.com Don't know if that will link or not. My
computer has apparently decided it's just too much work to drag a site name all the way over from another page, which is how I've
always done that. Third site tonight that has failed to drag.
Late mention, I know, and not sure whether I can make it, but a nice small games. A friend's band is the games pipe band; another
friend will help hosting a clan tent. Pleasant venue, a municipal park along a nice cool mountain creek. Lots of trees. Usually a couple
of blacksmiths working. Friendly southern mountain folk. Usual stuff. All I know who've been expressed enjoyment, which has been
my experience every time I've made it.

I keep meaning to make it up there, but I never have. This year we are celebrating my son's High School Graduation with a lot of family in town. Which means that although I'd dearly love to sneak out, I don't think I will be able to.

I know the ATL and Georgia World Congress Center, but I have no idea what "asm" is. Careful, some folks get mighty upset over the use of acronyms around here.

In light of the recent thread on the use of acronyms, perhaps a little translation: gwcc would be the Georgia World Congress Center, one
of the premier exhibition and trade show venues in the United States (I caught myself typing US there, corrected). ASM would be the
American Society for Microbiology.

Sam, you didn't give me enough time to finish typing. A phone call delayed my completing the above response.

I would have thought "huge microbiology trade show" was an idiom. But, what do I know.
