Burns Night in Santa Fe
The 26th annual Santa Fe Robert Burns Night was organized and presented by the Scottish Rite Order of the Thistle and Order of the Thistle Pipes & Drums on January 28th, 2012 at the Scottish Rite Center.

We slipped into the dining room a bit early and a waiter was kind enough to take a picture of me and my wife, daugter-in-law, and son. The object in the foreground is Robert Burn's tombstone, ... or perhaps the top of a chair.

The throng was called to dinner by the pipes and drums led by Suzanne "Aden" Lumb, leftmost piper. As you can imagine, it was very stirring and moving music. Guess what will be placed on the small, empty table. ... You got it! ...

No caption necessary, except to say that even though I own an idiot-proof camera, the idiot that took this picture zoomed in and didn't stop to think that the flash would not illuminate from 30 feet away.

My son and I with Kathy Lare. She made my Blaylock Annandale and my son's Douglas (WCWM) kilts. Kathy kindly donated a hand-sewn kilt, the tartan of which to be chosen by the winner of a Burns Night raffle. My son and I bought ticktets, but we didn't win.

The entertainment for the evening included the Belisama Irish Dancers of Santa Fe and Los Alamos. It's hard to tell from a still, but they really are accomplished and spectacular (with both soft and hard shoes). I couldn't jump that high even when I was young and spry.
We all had a great time and look forward to next year.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Nice, as a former member of the Valley of Santa Fe Order of the Thistle, it did my heart good to see the old place.

Cool. Do you recognize any of the pipers? They were really good, and their leader, Suzanne, was special.
