Chicago Area Highland Games June 20-21
Early enough to mention this?
http://www.chicagoscots.org/highland-games-folder/
I am going to make a point of getting to the Games this year because one thing or another has kept me from attending the past couple of years…I SO feel like I'm sluffing off on the Chicago Rabble these days. So if I have to WALK, I'm getting there…Who else if on board?

I was unable to attend last year because my girlfriend insisted on treating me to two absolutely glorious weeks in Italy as my 50th birthday gift. No such luck this year--see you in Itasca!

I will try my best. But might have to miss on account that I should be a father for the first time.that week. We will see But if I can sneak out I'm there.

I'm trying like heck to be there this year. missed it last year because I was unloading the uhaul from the move back here.
If it's hot as blazes I m likely going to opt for my lightweight kilt I run in, if it's a chilly day I may have to lock and load a few yards of wooly goodness.
Perhaps set up a meeting point at the games?

Hotel reservation made so maximum viewing, listening, eating, shopping, "ambiance-ing"...and ale consumption...
...is possible without shorting the experience.

Grim: cool or hot? I've worn the woolies in the heat and it's usually not that bad….I do, however, have a nice PV Campbell of Cawdor (my alt tartan) that I haven't really had a chance too wear out yet…if it's too warm, that one may get an spin.
J Hood: smart move….my pet situation kind of precludes my staying over so I'm envious. Itasca is JUST far enough away to make going Friday evening AND Saturday kind of tough. The drive home unimpaired does cut into by enjoyment of bevvies at the event.
As to a meet up…I suppose that Glen Chisholm is probably busy running his business up in Wisconsin….Glen used to extend the hospitality of the Chisholm clan tent as an informal meeting place for Xmarks but I think that he's probably not running the tent these days. We'll have to be resourceful. One thing that we ought to look out for is some kind of identifying Xmarks thing….while the dandelion is the official Xmarks plant badge, they wilt so fast that you end up walking around with a dead, droopy flower hanging off yer hat. Not trying to be a wise guy but we either come up with some other plan or we look for the guys with the droopy flowers…
Have to admit that I'm getting pumped about the Games this year….haven't been there since they moved to Itasca and I hear it's a much better location.

I can only make it on Friday. I'll be wearing my Xmarks tartan.

So the confirmed Saturday attendees:
We've got Auld Argonian
Llama
Dyer Straits
James Hood
Wales LAX
Mikilt
Saturday Maybes:
Grain Reaper
Samplem
Anyone else? How about a meeting place/time? I am unaware of any active xmarkers staffing a clan tent. I want to say that there is a "Scottish Heritage" (or something to that effect) next to the SCD stage near the clan tents Not to be confused with the music stage in front of the beer tent! How about we meet there at 1:00 PM?
