Chicago St. Patrick's Day festivities
The Downtown Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade is on Saturday, March 14, 2015. Anybody planning to be downtown and looking for an Xmarks meet up?
The Dying of the Chicago River takes place at 9:30 AM and the parade steps off at Noon.

If you've never been to this, it is CROWDED. Several Xmarksers and I got together at the River Dying a few years ago and then found it impossible to get from the river to the parade route….we had to throw in the towel and adjourn to a non-Irish pub for food and beverages. I don't mention this to deter your attendance, I'm just giving you an idea of what the scene is like…it IS a blast just to be there, though. Another thing that we discovered a couple of years ago is that trying to communicate by cell phone (voice or text) is difficult due to the massive volume of cell phone users in the area…attendance is usually in the range of 400,000…(I sh*t thee not!)…so it's understandable.
Thus, if we are to meet up, I would recommend a set place and time because communications will be difficult at best.
Who's in?
Best,
AA

I'm lucky enough to live a block away from the Rock Island station at 103rd Street (hell…that was a big selling point when we bought the house!) so I hop The Rock and get off at LaSalle and Van Buren. That's the South end of The Loop so I gotta walk up to Wacker to get to the River Dying event.

I hear you. I am coming in to Union Station, so I have a bit of a walk as well. Depending on timing, I might be able to meet you at LaSalle&Van Buren or somewhere along the way to the river. We can make more specific plans as the date approaches.
