    Clan Tent Fees

How much does a clan tent space cost at the games you go to?

Does it include the actual tent, some chairs, a table, a parking pass and some entrance tickets?

I am wondering why games on the east coast seem to cost so much more than games on the west coast.

Most games on the west coast just include the 10x10 or whatever spot on the turf/parking lot for a fee. Usually includes ticket/passes for tenters. You bring the tent and either rent or bring the tables, chairs, etc. At some east coast games, you get their tent and you furnish it. Turf is just generally more costly in the East

The games I do usually cost $25.00 for the space (and sometimes a parking pass). It does not include the tent, table or chairs, but most will rent those to you to at an extra cost.

In the midwest US it varies considerably. Some furnish tents, tables and chairs; most include parking pass(es) and tickets. Prices from $25-$100.

The Cumnock Games in Scotland always provided clan tents free of charge.
They supplied and erected the tent but we had to supply our own table and chairs.
Gourock charged the same rate as for trade stalls, can't remember the exact amount I was quoted but they effectively priced out all clan tents.
Bannockburn 2014 is charging £200 for which you get a table, chairs and four entry passes.

Of the four games here in North Carolina where I will be convening a clan tent this year --

All include, with clan tent registration, game admission for two, sponsor reception admission for two, special parking, one or two commemorative pins, one or two programs, and courtesy (refreshment) tent admission for two.

Two of the games are Friday evening and Saturday and you can get just a space for $50 and $55 or you can rent tables and chairs and a tent for more.

One of the games is Friday evening, Saturday, and Sunday and clan registration is $170 for everything. You are not allowed to use your own tent.

Grandfather Mountain is Thursday afternoon thru Sunday, the clan tent registration includes the whole enchilada and I am still waiting to be contacted by them for details, but I have heard that it will be costly.

This is quite an expensive hobby around here. Maybe I need to move to Texas?

Grandfather Mountain this year was $275 per clan tent.

in the Northeast the games usually charge $15-$30 and you generally get a 10'x10' space with two complimentary tickets, a games program and games ribbon.

Location also dictates how much is charged. One venue may charge more than another for the Games to be held there.

At the Virginia Scottish Games you pay for the space but can put up your own tent. At the Central Virginia Games, your fee includes a 10x10 canopy (wind/rain shields are extra). At both places you can rent tables and chairs, or bring your own, or do a mix.

Both usually provide entry for 4 people, a clan hospitality area with food and drink, and parking passes.

My clan reimburses me for one Games, but any others are at my expense.

Here in Missouri, the tent fees can range from $15 a space to $35 depending on the game. Clan Donald Missouri uses 3-10'x10' tents. We have our own, along with our own chairs and tables. Although most games will let you rent those at a slight bit more cost. That's one reason why we bought our own tents, with a season or two, they will pay for themselves since there are six games that I attend in Missouri during the season.

Are there rules regarding who can put up a tent at a Highland games? There was no Buchanan tent at the last two Central Florida HG and, if I am allowed, I might want to make sure that doesn't happen at the next. But I'm not trying to break rules or step on toes (or go broke lol)
