    Costa Mesa

I'm coming down to test my mettle against the Southern California 50-59 Masters....James Fraser and Jay Lyttle... so I'll be throwing on Sunday. However, Saturday I'll get there late morning through the day, and would be happy to do a meet-up with any X Markers sometime Saturday afternoon.

No can do dinner after the Games, there's an athletes party at the house where I'm staying, and I am SO looking forward to viewing the antics of the young bucks from the comfort of a lawn chair with a beer in my hand.

I do believe there will be quite a few XMarkers there that weekend.

I will probably only be there Saturday. I'll have a dandelion in my balmoral.

    Yes I'll be there Sunday!

I have a gig Saturday, otherwise I'd be there then too.

I'll be in what's shown in my avatar more or less. Look for the goathair sporran with vintage Celtic bird top.

We've had weeks of cool overcast weather, perfect Highland Games weather. But it will probably be a Heat Wave on Memorial Day Weekend, it usually is.

By the way for those non-locals there's a place not far from the Fairgrounds called the Goat Hill Tavern which has an amazing number of esoteric beers, stouts, bitters, ales, etc on tap. Look it up. Not fancy but a must-see for beer fanciers.

    Take a long carefull look...

BTW if you haven't tried an "eclipse" you might really like it! Make a Black&Tan but with Guinness and Blue Moon. It's fantastic.

OK, a meet-up? I've never been to these Games so someone who is familiar with the place, how about suggesting a meeting place?

Well... there are a couple options. For those planing on getting to the festival right at the beginning we can meet up somewhere on 'clan row.' The clan tables are generally set up just inside the main gate. (Note: If memory serves, the "Green Gate" on the map is the main get for the festival.)

Another possible location is the "Main Mall." There are usually beer stands, craft tents and a music stage set up in this area.
There is usually a music stage just next to the restaurant "Baja Blues" that might serve well as a meeting area as well.

In between Park Plaza (where the Highland Games are held) and building 10 would suffice as well. Relatively near the entrance, easy to find. Close to food and beer...

Any other regular attendees have any ideas?

OK, I am making an executive decision. X Marks the Scot Meeting Place will be between Building 10 and Park Plaza, near the doors to Building 10 at 11:30, both Saturday and Sunday. If you have a dandelion to wear in your cap, wear it.

I will wear the X Marks tartan on Saturday, so look for that. On Sunday, you're all on your own because I will be out on the field throwing heavy stuff.

I'll be in the OC next weekend visiting my parents and we will be going. Not sure yet if it will be Saturday or Sunday. I'll try to be at building 10 for the meet up.
