    German Highland Games part 2

Continuing my visit to Angelbachtal on 11 and 12 July.

They had a "Hieland Koo" or 3 there also, including this calf. Adorable!

Since the weather was cool, I was able to wear my Lovat Green jacket and vest. Didn't get the Hay Modern tartan kilt in however. There were all levels of dress at the games. The judges of the piping events were experienced men from Scotland, and wore black Argyl jackets and black glengarry hats for the most part. I dressed for a day in the country, with my balmoral (I still need to find a cromach) and there were a couple of great kilts. The few other men and some women in kilts generally wore informal tops with their kilts. The athletes wore kilt-like attire as you can see from other pictures. I had one german couple ask to pose with me, to which I readily assented, and I'm sure I was photographed by several other participants. Even had a personal invitation to another games event the following weekend, but could not go.

What is this sheepdog looking so intently at?

It's a little hard to see, but there was momma duck with 8 ducklings in the moat! My wife says the dog had jumped in a few minutes before I got there and tried to herd a group of about 12 larger adut ducks. These dogs just can't help themselves! But fun to watch.

    That's all for now,

    Tom
