Glengarry Highland Games, Maxville, Ontario
Just returned from two days at the 70th edition of the Glengarry Highland Games. 1,400 musicians on the field for the massed bands event but I noticed other musicians watching so the total number of musicians was certainly higher. Not sure how many spectators but it was likely over 10,000. Congratulations to Maxville (population: 853) and the organizing committee for another successful Games. Rather than posting my own poor quality photos, here is a google search link to some photos of the event.
I've posted this drone footage before, however, for those who have not seen it, here is the 2014 version from the air. I note that the parking lots are not full in this video but that they were this year. Attendance was therefore very good. Even Prime Minister Trudeau made an appearance, wearing a kilt in his family (Sinclair) tartan.

Who won the tug of war? Please don't tell me it was the damn Cameron Highlanders again.

Was disappointing that all the top grade one bands headed to Scotland early rather than compete at maxville, but it was nice that Bill Livingston was honoured.

Mr. Trudeau's mother's maiden name was Margaret Sinclair, so that is Sinclair modern he's wearing. Of course he could also wear Maple Leaf which Canada has adopted as it's official national tartan by act of parliament, however, most Scots do wear their own tartan as the norm.

There was a video clip on CBC ... where he mentions that he also has connections with the Elliotts.

Thank you. Yes; I was dredging my brain for that connection. His father's name was Pierre Elliott Trudeau, the Elliot from Pierre's mother's side.
