Graeme Park Celtic Heritage Festival, Philly area

    Hello All,

The Graeme Park Celtic Heritage Festival is this weekend, July 20 & 21. Saturday, it's 10:00 am to 7:00 pm and on Sunday it's Noon to 6:00 pm.

My wife, Susan, and I will be there and I believe that our very own Bonnie Heather Greene will be there with a display (Saturday). She will also be doing a kilt making demonstration.

If any of the rabble is going to be there, lets meet up (perhaps at Bonnies' display) for a 'greet' and photo (maybe 1'ish). Hope to see some dandelions.

Simon Fraser fought as MacShimidh, a Highland chief… wrapped and belted in a plaid over the top of his linen shirt, like his ordinary kinsmen. He put a bonnet on his head, and stuck the Fraser emblem, a sprig of yew, in it. With the battle cry, A'Chaisteal Dhunaidh and the scream of the pipes, they charged to battle. We are not too far from this but we heard nothing about it. We will not be able to attend this year, but maybe next. Thanks for the heads-up.

What a wonderful day for the Graeme Park Celtic Heritage festival, despite the 95ºƒ temperature. For me the highlight of the day was meeting kilt maker, Bonnie Heather Green. Bonnie is truly a wonderful, gracious person as well as a talented kilt maker.

Bonnie & me with my new kilt (almost done). OK, my secret 'Jonsen' is out; it's a 16 oz, wool, Lochcarron Strome, Fraser of Lovat (my clan) and I can't wait but, I will,,, because,,, all good things in their time!

OK, all that said, Bonnie had a Stewart kilt (my wife's clan) that she made for a client who ended up not taking it; well... it fit my wife, Susan, to a 'T'. So... we now have two Bonnie Heater Green kilts. (pictures will be forthcoming)

It was hot (95ºƒ) but the Graeme Park Celtic Heritage Festival was alive with music and fun. Though not a large festival, it was started 17 years ago to honor the Scottish heritage of the Keith and Graeme families. In my opinion, the dominant feature of this festival is the music. the entertainment was excellent and the pipe bands were first class. Here are a few pictures I took of the event; enjoy.
