Talking Grand Father Mountain Highland Games!

I arrived in Boone N.C.safe and sound after 9.5hours driving thru all types of weather.Rain storms, sunshine, mountain fog at 2pm in the afternoon where you could just see the car in front of you{Blowing Rock N.C.}. So now I'm waiting for the food delivery, a bite to eat and then a nice long nap.

I left Florida at 3:40am this morning and right now I'm bushed!

I will post photos at the end of each day from the games!

I will be there" O-Dark Thirty" as the ol saying goes! I'm an early riser so I will be out no later than 05:30am and heading for a good breakfast somewhere and then head out for the Mt.

So far I've met four xmarkers: Turpin, Drillagent, Balsamsass (though not sure if I spelled that right) and son. I know there are others here I am overlooking gate 2 with a partially obstructed view of the fairgrounds. I am situated between the rowdy side and the less rowdy side. I went to bed pretty early yesterday after a long day of packing, travel, and setting up camp, and the drums, pipes, and whooping cheers lulled me to sleep. There is such a spirit of excitement and friendship here, though at times I feel a bit like an interloper. I'm really glad that I decided to camp out here though. It's a very different show.

    Regards,
    Rex.

I hope all of you enjoy your sojourn in my neck of the woods. I won't be at Grandfather this year, but I wish you all cool weather and plenty of fun.

You're right, Rex, there is a special feeling or vibe there.
Joly, you came within 3 miles of my house today if you came up I-40 and exited in Marion. I hate that I missed you.

I'm looking forward to the pics that are forthcoming.

I'm hoping to get there between 9 and 10. We'll see how the traffic is going up Hwy 181.

Piperdbh - hate to hear you're not going to make it. Was looking forward to meeting you, as my wife is from Marion (Sugar Hill area) Perhaps we'll get a chance to meet in the near future.

I understand we're meeting at the STM tent around noon?
