A list of the Games
Does anybody have a comprehensive list of the Highland Games? I'm most interested in the US ones but the international ones would be fun to know too.
I have the Clan Campbell site, but I keep hearing about others not on there. http://www.ccsna.org/games/calendaroct.html
Listed by State and/or month would be preferable.
Thanks, Willtheengraver

You can find many of the Scottish ones on Scottish Highland Games Association website.
http://www.shga.co.uk/events.php
The list is nowhere near comprehensive as it only shows games organised by SHGA members.
I believe Visit Scotland take their information for their website from SHGA as neither of the Scottish games which I am planning to attend are listed on either site.

There are three in Canada that are sort of close to you:
Foothills Highland Games, August 27th. http://foothillshighlandgames.com/
Calgary Highland Games, September 3rd. http://calgaryhighlandgames.org/
Canmore Highland Games, September 4th. http://canmorehighlandgames.ca/
And if you're interested in another Highland event that isn't games the St. Andrew-Caledonian Society of Calgary is putting on a Scottish Cultural Gathering on October 7-10 in Canmore for it's second year. http://calgaryscots.org/

Thank you for the Buchanan list, and the others. I would like to get to Canada someday, but don't have a passport yet (shame on me), and am the same about the overseas Games. Someday!

It's an interesting question, if there's a single list that has EVERY Games in the USA.
I would think that as mentioned above a check of some Clan sites would be about as close as you're going to get.
Somebody mentioned the sanctioned athletic events, ditto the sanctioned piping event lists of the various Pipe Band Associations, which only list the Games which have sanctioned competitions.

There is this link:

It seems to cover some bases.

Thanks for ALL the responses! We just got back from the Bitterroot Scottish Irish Festival in Hamilton, Montana. It isn't one of the biggies, but has a nice mix of clans and vendors with athletic competition, pipe bands and singles and dancing, spread around the grounds, so lots to see from everywhere.
My favorite part is that it is held on the gounds of the Daly Mansion, Marcus Daly's home (he was an Irishman the was part of the Butte copper mining in it's early years) and is privately owned, rather than a county fairground, city park etc. What this means is that the Beer, Scotch and Mead is NOT confined to the designated spots, but all are allowed to freely roam the grounds with the libation of their choice. The only place it's not allowed is for vendors, while in their booth...but there are no liquor police roaming the grounds.
Anyway, it is a great games and lots of fun. Thanks again for all the responses.
