Little Rock Arkansas Burns Supper
Will any other Xmarkers be in attendance at the Arkansas Scottish Cultural Society's Robert Burns Supper on January 21st? I will be making the trip down from Springfield, along with Xmarker Asser1 and his lovely wife. I will be giving the Immortal Memory and Mark will be Addressing the Haggis and reciting "Tam O'Shanter".
If anyone else will be there, we need to get a photo to commemorate the occasion.
First trip to Little Rock for me, by the way.

Ah, Little Rock. My own home town. I certainly wish I could make the trek myself, if for no other reason than to hear Todd's Immortal Memory address. There are some fine folks in the rabble there, and I would love to participate.
Todd, please give details for the time and place.

In talking to Vincent H. (a member here today), the venue will most likely be the Foster-Robinson house in the Quapaw Quarter:

There will be piping beginning at 5.30 pm, followed by social time at 6.00, and dinner at 6.30 pm. I'm not sure as to the cost, but I will find out. I believe it is BYOB.

Ah, yes, the Foster Robinson house. It's a nice place and worthy of the Bard. If Vincent sets that up, you'll certainly have a great place for the supper.
Not too far away is the Villa Marre house where my brother and his wife's wedding reception was held; you may remember it from the opening credits of Designing Women. Little Rock has a several nice venues as well as Irish pubds. Creegan's, across the river in North Little Rock, where I actually grew up, is a pretty good spot for a refreshing beverage or three. I met the Little Rock rabble there last May.
I look forward to photos even if I don't make it.

I believe it's $25 for the Supper.
I saw a reference to the Villa Marre House. A good friend of mine from reenacting days who is from Pine Bluff (but now resides in Fayettepatch) recommended Vino's Brewpub. I'm hoping to hit Diamond Bear Brewing as well.
So much to see & do on Saturday; the Old State House, the Arsenal in MacArthur Park and the Territorial museum, plus the Clinton Library -- can't decide where to visit! The Arsenal is a must, since it has a connection to the battlefield where I worked -- two units, North & South, were stationed there before the war. When Arkansas seceded, Capt. James Totten of the Battery F, 2nd US Artillery, left the Arsenal for St. Louis, and was thrown a large barbecue by the citizens of Little Rock. Totten had trained the local artillery militia company, the Pulaski Light Artillery, and 3 months later, both units would face each other at Wilson's Creek.

My great-great-grandfather fought at Wilson's Creek and Pea Ridge, I believe. He was from the Clarksville area--a farmer with several acres where a cousin of mine still lives. He's even buried in the church yard at the old Hayes Chapel Methodist Church with his unit enscribed on the tombstone. I've lost the photo of it, but I'll be back to take another one day.
His name was Ben Robertson, and his is the Robertson blood I proudly claim.
I long to be in Little Rock for so august an address. For the unitiated, Gen. Douglas MacArthur was born in Little Rock. Your visit will be eventful and a great place fora student of history at the very least.

Pictures yet? I had full intention of being there, but the wife was on call at the hospital and we just couldn't make it. There were two empty seats across from Dave that were ours. Perhaps you will be at Batesville in April, Aye.
