Loch Norman 2016 roll call
I've booked my flight, booked the rental car, booked a room... I'll be attending Loch Norman for the first time!
I'm thrilled. I love attending Games around the country. Two years ago it was the Colonial/Fair Hill Games. I've attended Alexandria, Stone Mountain, Grandfather Mountain (twice) and Bridgeport WV (several times) which is pretty good for a guy living in California.
Most of my family is still back in West Virginia and I try to visit every year. I nearly always have a side-trip, usually to a Scottish Games.
So I thought it would be fun to start a thread where various XMarkers might chime in. I will do my best to meet you all in person!
One question haunts me... is the area "dry"?
Here's the thread on the 2015 Loch Norman Games, which inspired me to attend

And great pics here, from 2010

The MacMillans will be there in force. Our chief, George MacMillan, will be the honored guest of the games, so we should have a good turnout. Please plan to drop by the tent and spend some time with us. It will be great to catch up with you in person.
I'm not sure what the official policy is on alcohol, but conscientious, subdued, and responsible use of alcohol is tolerated.

My sweetie, carolinanan117, and I will be convening for Clan Sinclair. Anyone attending please stop by our tent for a visit and a wee dram of Old Pulteney.

Thanks for the info.
Alcohol being such a fixture of Games in Scotland and here in the USA Southwest and West, I was dismayed to discover that Grandfather Mountain was in a "dry" County and that there was no alcohol on the premises. (Not that I'm such a big drinker, but still...)
Likewise the Bridgeport (WV) Games are "dry". I was told that this is because they're held in a park. We likewise hold Games out here in parks, and yet serve alcohol.

Based on the website, it appears that there is "beer sales all day."

Last year, the board for the Grandfather Mountain games was able to bring in a beer tent with some local craft brews and a whiskey tasting tent with one of the big distilleries from Scotland. Times do change!

I hope it will be dry... er. The ground, that is.
Look forward to meeting some of the rabble.

That's great! I would love to 'explore' the local craft brews.

I'll be there (I live 45 minutes from it, work 15 minutes from the site). Last year, I brought in a liter of my homemade mead. I kept it at the Clan Donald tent. This year, I'll be bringing in 4 liters of homebrew. Dry? Noooo.....we'll have a great time.
