Lovely woman attending Colorado's Longs Peak Scot/Irish Highland Festival
All right, you Colorado/Wyoming X Markers. We've got a great event coming up in September--the Longs Peak Scottish and Irish Highland Festival.
http://www.scotfest.com/Scottish_Festival/Home.html
It's been several years since I've attended, and this is the year I'm committing to getting back up to Estes Park. I'd love to get as many Xmarks members to head up there and have a meet-up. Not only just for the sake of getting together, but also so we can give good account of ourselves to this attractive lass:

Unfortunately, the man beside her is also traveling from California to be here Sept. 6-9, but that's why we need as many members present as possible...we can run interference for each other--buy this guy so many pints he won't know what's what.
We still have a few months, but I'd really like to put on a proper hosting for MacMillan's son and his young lady. We'll have to figure out with him when they'd be most open to a mountain state X-marks gathering, but I think it's quite doable. I'm going to be bumping this thread a heck of a lot, as well as creating others, so the more commitments I get, the less annoying I'll be.
Let's get on our horses.

Reason: I had a hole in my sock and Gus, my pet earwig, was experiencing an anxiety attack.

My wife and I were there last year. It is something not to be missed! The parade is great; I even saw some of the local police kilted for the events. There were several xmarkers in attendance, and it was fun to get to know them better. Yes, we give the Estes Park Gathering two very enthusiastic thumbs up!
Scotland is only 1/5 the size of Montana, but Scotland has over 3,000 castles and Montana has none.

Thanks Tyler. We are really looking forward to the event and meeting new Rocky Mountain region friends. However, aren't you the one who coined the phrase "...like wearing meat pants into the lion enclosure" ? Ya, I thought so!! I better have Connie start looking for a nice tartan burka!! And if Alan is coming along, I'll have her add a suit of full metal armor to the list of things to pack.
Looking forward to a great time!

I'm looking forward to you coming out. To Colorado, that is. We definitely need to hook up with some real mountain-staters...as if it wasn't completely evident from the wide-eyed innocent wholesomeness that permeates my posts, I must confess that I'm originally from Iowa. Only been a Colorado lad for 16 years. I feel like a fraud.
And Alan--don't tease. Get yerself out here, too. I think they decided to include a few throwing events this year, if that makes it more appealing!

As usual, I'll be there at the Clan MacLea tent. Everyone is welcome to stop by.

The last time that we went to the games we actually got there early by accident, and that was about thirteen years or more ago.
Other than 6AM, when do you suggest getting there to not be stuck in traffic.

I'd suggest to be there at opening which is 9 am. Usually on Sat everyone is at the parade so it gets VERY rough to get around town between 9 and an hour after the parade is over.

August, maybe?
We're coming up Friday night, burrowing into our lodging, and getting all set for two days of highland awfulness. Awesomeness, I mean. My American is, how you say...clumsy?
