Polo shirts for the modestly large fellow

Okay-not athletics related, really; so, if this needs to be moved, please move it. But, I'm 6 foot and 204 lbs. I feel like I'm athletically built for a 47 year old. My problem is that I have a fairly narrow waist (33 inches) and a 44 inch chest and 16 inch upper arms. My problem is that I can't find a polo style shirt that fits comfortably in the arms...the band on the sleeve is way too tight. Please understand, I'm not bragging-there are bigger guys out there. I'm just wondering if a) any of you have had this problem and b) what options have you found? thanks

I've run into this often enough (19" here), as I have to wear them to work every day. For me the answer is either the style of the shirt, or the material it's made out of. By style, I mean get ones that don't have band around the sleeves, it's just like the hem at the bottom of the shirt itself, or if it does have a band that it has a very giving, more elastic style band. Or you can go with different materials all together that have more stretch or give to them naturally. The ones I wear the most are 100% polyester, and 40% polyester 60% cotton.

Other than that, your only option really is to stretch the sleeves out. With some shirts that's not too had but it can cause it to look a little funny if you're not able to stretch it out evenly in all directions, and in others the stinking band is large enough and woven tight enough that you can't stretch it without ripping the seam.

thanks-I've started eyeing the open-ended sleeve rather than the banded sleeve. That might also be a cooler alternative here in South Central Texas.
