Portland Highland Games, 2013
Spent an enjoyable day at Portland Community College, Gresham, Oregon for the 61st Portland Highland Games.
Was able to say hello to our forum's very own VMAC3205 and her husband CaptMac at the Mackenzie Clan tent!
Pleasantly SHOCKED to recognize our own Alan H participating in the heavy events; got to shake his hand and say hello (he was up from the SF Bay Area to compete!
Have been trying to make it up to Portland from Salem with my brother the past few years, here we are this year (me on the left):

Best of all this year, I was able to get one of my son's and my wife and to come this year, too!

The weather started out cloudy, cool and even misty.... VERY NICE. Ended up quite warm. Thank goodness for the shade of the covered stadium seats.
If anyone else in attendance has notes or pictures to share, please do.

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

Well done, BigJ.
Next year you can help us out with the MacKenzie tent. Or better yet, join us in Kelso.

Mr. Lion: Nice pictures. Thanks for posting. You and your brother are looking handsome and happy to be there. I like those kilts (Black Stewarts?).

I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

BigJ: Thanks for the pics. Looks like you had lots of fun. I really like that MacKenzie kilt, very handsome sporran, and especially that official Scottish Jacobite Errol Flynn sark. I have one just like it, but in navy blue.
Victoria made two Argyll jackets for me and I love them both. Shown below is the brown Harris Tweed. I would have smiled, too, but I left my dentures at home.

Alan: Love that nonchalant, almost unconcerned look. You make it look easy!! Maybe I'll take up the sport, ... but without that big EFFIN ball and chain.

I hope I'm not breaking any "rules" by wearing a tartan of a clan I don't actually belong to. I mainly pickd this one because I liked how it looked and it was the only one they had in stock that fit me My birth name was Dunyon, I took my stepdads last name Willis, my mother's maiden name was Smith.... I am a big history fan and LOVE bagpipe music. As I learn more I'll try to trace down those Scottish roots I heard about as a kid, but for now its just a whole lot of fun.
