Prescott Arizona Highland Games This Weekend May 12th
Coulda sworn there was a thread running on this but can't find it even with the search engine so maybe not.
Anyhow. Last minute decision tonight I'm gonna be making the trek down. Leaving Sat morning so probably not there until afternoon.
Not a big gig if anyone else is going and wants to hook up.
Been some time since I've been able to make any highland games so looking forward to this - hearing the pipes, lurking in the vendor tents...looking for cousins in the clan tents.

Such a LOUD silence.....
Okay fine....less competition for goods in the vendor tents...

I really wish I could make, I've been trying to go to these games for years now but the military's always had other plans.
As it happens this year I'll be arriving in Prescott Valley two days after the event. Well, you'll have to let me know how it goes. If you see a large man there with a shaved head and earrings wearing a kilt way too low, without a sporran, that would be my brother....I promise I'll educate him on his discrepancies when I finally get back there for good.
Have fun!

First off, CC... Thank you for your service. I feel your current job is a tick more important than the games, the game you play is of far greater importance and my family is greatful for that.
Now that that is out of the way... I might have the chance to escape northward, I will pm if I can get up there!

I applaud the no sporran look. Love it myself. Will keep an eye out. I'll have a huge western straw hat on with Firefighter's Memorial tartan semi-trad and hot lime green river shirt to pick up that "Irish thread" in the tartan. Probably won't arrive down there until noonish....best place to find me is the vendor's area. But its a small games.

Aye, us locals know that if you say "Press cot" the price goes up.

I just saw this thread, late, as usual. I was there competing with the Master class men. It was a great day for a festival. The weather was not too warm (although I have a pretty red neck from throwing under the clear air and strong sun). The views in the park were beautiful. I managed to hit a couple personal records for distance throws too.
The only down-side, is that I didn't meet any X-markers. Oh well, next time.

Wasn't there long - it seemed much larger this year than my last visit in 2010. A few more vendors. Had the best time in the clan tents. Particularly the Cameron cousins who seem to ALWAYS have free cookies. And found a Macdonald Lord of the Isles sign/shield in Clan Donald's tent. Will have a few pics of the jaunt ere long. Here's the sign/shield though.

Firefighter's Memorial tartan from USA kilts in semi-trad with buffalo sporran.
