    Queen Mary Games tomorrow?

My band, the Long Beach Fire Dept Pipe Band, will be playing at the Queen Mary Scots Festival this weekend.

    We look like this!

At least this year I'll have a participant ticket, and hopefully be able to move about the grounds without having to buy a new $22 ticket, like I did last year. For those thinking of attending as an ordinary attendee, be warned that they might do things this year the same way they did them last year

See if they have the "no return" sign up, and are enforcing that policy. If so, be sure to bring everything you'll need for the entire day, and remember that you can't make a trip out to your car when it gets warm and you don't want to carry around your jacket, without being charged again to re-enter.

They did that two years ago for the athletes too...and we had to move from a field in the middle of the fastival to another one out in the over-flow parking area, depending on which event we were doing...It was a challenge. That was the competition that we started tossing cabers well after dark, and ended up not completing that event at all after several people voiced safety concerns. Poorly run all-in-all that year. I hope the festival is run better this year for all involved.

I will say that it is one of the most beautiful venues I have had the chance to throw at. The fresh sea air, the sunshine, the water, the boat, awesome!

Good luck to all the athletes, bands, and dancers.
