Scots on the Rocks, Moab Utah
Just got back. It was a very nice festival. There were about 27 Clans represented, about a dozen vendors and about six pipe bands. Looked like a pretty good turnout of athletes but we didn't spend much time over there. There was a highland dance competition but we didn't make it to that.
Musicians included The Wicked Tinkers, The Devil's Dram an John McLean Allan. All were very good and amazingly hardworking each doing about three full sets each day.
Met some nice folks, joined two Clan Societies (Gunn and Wallace) and had a fine time overall for my first kilted festival. I did learn that a UT Utility II Kilt is very nice all day but when the weather hits about 30*f 'tis a bit light. Ordered a 13oz wool Scottish National from UT when I got home. Daytime highs were near 60*. Sunny throughout.
If you've not been Moab is a nice little town with a lot and I mean *a lot* of restaurants but as in addition to us Scots there was a Folk Festival, Over 50 athletic competition and a half marathon were in town everywhere was crowded last night.
Slàinte mhath!
