Scottish Homecoming Announced for 2014
http://heritage.scotsman.com/14684/N...ate.6317055.jp
Prime Minister Alex Salmond announces plans for another Homecoming Year in 2014. The article stresses the positive impact on Scotland as a whole of the Year of the Homecoming in 2009, despite the fiasco of the Edinburgh Gathering. Lets hope that if they decide to include a so-called gathering in Edinburgh next time as a "flagship" event that they can find someone competent who can organise it properly.

Settle down now, Jock. Don't get yourself all worked up. Remember your condition.
We'll see how it goes I suppose.
At least we have something to talk about for the next four years.

I wonder if my boys will be able to handle a trip like that. They'll be 6 and 4 then. Perhaps...
Maybe we'll see.
I have always tempered my killing with respect for the game pursued. I see the animal not only as a target but as a living creature with more freedom than I will ever have. I take that life if I can, with regret as well as joy, and with the sure knowledge that nature's ways of fang and claw or exposure and starvation are a far crueler fate than I bestow. - Fred Bear

Yeah, like I want to go over and compete for B&B rooms, road space, and tour access with a bunch of other international tourists. I'll be back, but in an off-promotional year.

Judging by all the material that I get from Scottish Tourism, every year is Homecoming year.
I'll opt for coming over in "stealth mode", avoiding any potential stampedes and increasing the odds of me getting a tee-time at St. Andrew's.

Aw, fooey! Now I'll have to make another trip to Scotland again.
Well, its a sacrifice to be sure, but I suppose I'll have to do it.
Jock, if its not too much of a bother (and you can avoid flying stones) I'll hold you to that dram...
