Scottish Weekend at Mohonk 2014

Scottish Weekend is coming up soon (January 24-26) at Mohonk Mountain House near New Paltz, NY. It's a Victorian castle-style hotel at the top of a mountain with a lake and a beautiful view of the Catskills!

This year I'll be there all weekend with my kiltmaking table. Also I'll do a little talk on the history of kilts and tartan, and demonstrate how I make a kilt.

There will be a Highland dancing, Scottish Country dancing, Gaelic singing, Scottish musicians, a pipe band, a Celtic art workshop, a talk on Scottish history, single malt whiskey tasting and many other good things.

If any fellow Xmarkers are able to come, I hope you'll stop by and say hello.

My good friend Caroline Bennett is the Gaelic singer, and my highland dance teacher Kendra Monroe is one of the premier highland dancers of Shot of Scotch. The dancer on the cover of the flyer, Susan Nase now lives in Vancouver BC, but she used to teach highland dance in NYC.
