Some photos of AZ Scottish Gathering/games, part II
While at the gathering, we watched guys throw things, over a high bar, We also met up with some friends at the games. My friend knew of an English-style pub across the street, from the park. So we walked there, and had lunch with he and his sweet wife. . When we returned, we watched some more tossing (by both men and women). Also looked at some vintage British cars Besides the free shirt, I bought one souvenir, a new necktie (I'm a cheap date). OH, did I happen to mention, that we saw pipers? . After a long, rather warm day, of walking around, and drinking what seemed like gallons of water (and getting some great pub food), we got in our car, turned the air conditioner on full blast, and drove the 3 + hours home. After a long cool shower, I sat down, and shared this story with you. THE END

AZ Scottish Gathering/games, part III
Not mentioned, or pictured, in the above story, are all the wonderful displays, including many clan tents, vendor booths, pipers/drummers, both while competing, and their role in the opening ceremonies. There were talented dancing lassies, on one stage, doing the sword dance. We met, and spoke with many wonderfully nice people. Also met and spoke with members of TDPB (Tucson and District Pipe Band). I mentioned that I won a trivia contest, about the movie Braveheart. This was done, by a really nice emcee, who was killing time, before one of the performances by the group Celtica Pipes Rock. We also watched performances by the Wicked Tinkers, Stoneybank, and John McLean Allan. All great performers, in their own right. And when I said that I only bought one souvenir; believe me, I really wanted to buy more. Their were many nice things. Beautiful sporrans, pins, hats, interesting books and literature, etc. The car show had some beautifully restored British cars, including Triumphs, Coopers, and a little red Royal Mail wagon. There were food trucks, selling various Scottish and American fare. The whole thing was so much fun. I hadn't been to the games, in 30+ years (in Scotland). I wish I hadn't waited so long, to attend another one.
