Tartan Day at Ardenwood
Saturday, April 6th
Ardenwood Historic Farm, Fremont, CA.
Things are coming together. We have a good array of musical acts, and will see the Red Thistle dancers and the US Pipe Band Association competition folks, again. There are some really great vendors signed up, including Stumptown Kilts and Jen Delyth (http://www.celticartstudio.com, as well as Sportkilt. New craftsman, James Satterlee will be there with his UN-believable tooled leather targes. Living History will be represented with the Thistle House clan from the Isle of Man, the Gaestetae Romans, and the Dark Boar Vikings, among others.
Clans are starting to sign up, I know that MacFhearchair has signed up the Farquharsons, and Clan Cian will be in attendance. I expect about 10-12 clan tents - just got a verbal "yes" from the Cunninghams this weekend.
We'll have a mess of athletes, including a good bunch of throwing' lasses. MacFhearchair will be gunning for the field record in the sheaf. I'm pretty sure that my field record in the sheaf, for the Masters will go down on Saturday. We start off the day with a half-hour workshop from Open Stone World Record Holder, John Davis. The Heavies will clear out the field at lunchtime and there'll be a 4-on-4 shinty scrimmage.
When the little ones in the family get tired you can take them over to the farm to see the new lambs, or visit the blacksmith shop. It's a great day!

I thinks SAMS Post 1921 will be there again this year. If so I will be with them, if they are not there I will be by myself I guess. If anyone from SF is planning to go, I would love to hitch a ride.

SAMS is indeed going to be there, they're our Color Guard!
The Ale Garden is a GO! Looks like we'll be serving up Belhaven! Wooo-hooo. I *think* the big A class caber will be the "official" Belhaven caber!
Musical Acts....The Black Eyed Dempseys are our headliner. http://www.facebook.com/TheBlackeyedDempseys

We got there late, but the weather seemed to clear. Saw Sailortats out front and we honked and waved, but Phil, I don't think you saw us. Some photos below. Find the XMarks members!

Alan tossed off the glengarry, unbuckled the sporran, then with effortless style, turned the caber.

Macintosh Pipe Band working out a number.

There were also clan tents, pipers, dancers, live music (I enjoyed the Black-eyed Dempseys, fun in the vein of Dropkick Murphys/Pogues), living history folks, and a few vendors. Also a great ice cream truck!

I was set to attend and perform with the Red Thistles, but taking care of a sick daughter took priority. I was sorry not to be able to make it, but I hope everyone had a grand time.
Cheers
