May 2-4, 2012 Bridgeport (near Clarksburg) I am told that there will be a Clan Dunlop tent. I'll likely be hangin' there or close by.

Any other Xmarkers going? I missed the deadline for ceilidh reservations/tickets (DOH!), but will be at the games all day Saturday. Dunlop blue and black, unless it's raining, and a twisty walking stick.

Dont normally have anything negative to say about the Highland Games and those who work very hard to make them happen. I understand most organizers and workers are volunteers who sacrificially give of their time and effort to make a good event.
In this case, have had nothing but bad experiences with getting questions answered and info from the folks responsible for this event. I hope they treat the patrons and their questions better than they have my requests for info. Wont go into detail other than to say repeated phone calls and emails were never answered even though I was directed to initiate contact. My business wouldnt last very long if I chose to treat my clients in the same way.
Do hope those who attend have a good time. Would have liked to have been able to join you.

As much as I would like to combine a visit with my folks (in Ronceverte/Lewisburg) with the WV highland games, that event falls on one of the most important weekends here locally, namely the Kentucky Derby weekend, to which I already have tickets and plans made. Although my plans are potentially changeable I choose not to, but will be kilted for both days of the Oaks and the Derby. Maybe WV next year if it does not coincide again.

I attended last year and was fortunate to hook up with forum member OC Richard (he came from California). My wife and I had a good time, and I found the event to be rather nice. I was not going to attend this year, as we wanted to go to the Celtic event in Fredrick, MD. However, my wife has other plans that weekend, so we just might be headed back to WV.

Had a great time in spite of not meeting any other Xmarkers there. Pipe bands, Highland dancers and athletes from all over the mid-Atlantic seaboard; great entertainment (especially The Rogues) and even light rain and mist most of the weekend. If hearing the pipes in the misty hills doesn't stir your blood, you might want to check your pulse.

Glad to hear you had a great time, David. Did you happen to take any photos?
Cheers,

Kyle, these are both posted elsewhere and in my album as well. They are the only shots from the WV games. The weather was not friendly to exposed electronic devices.
