Wow!! Big news about the New York Tartan Day Parade and Outlander star
Just read about this today:
The National Tartan Day New York Committee is proud to announce that celebrated Scottish actor Graham McTavish, star of Starz Original Series "Outlander," will be the Grand Marshal of the 17th Annual New York Tartan Day Parade.
Joining him as Honorary Grand Marshal will be the Rt. Hon. Tricia Marwick, MSP, Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament.
"It is a singular honor to follow in the footsteps of previous Grand Marshals. I hope I can live up to the illustrious tradition established by my predecessors and bring pride to my family, clan and nation," Graham McTavish responded when accepting the role.
The Presiding Officer said: "Having taken part in previous Tartan Day parades and experienced first-hand the color, enthusiasm and buzz of the marchers and spectators, I am pleased and excited to represent the Scottish Parliament at the head of the Tartan Day Parade. New York's Tartan Week celebrations highlight the unique relationship between Scotland and North America."
The Tartan Week Committee would also like to thank our sponsors: STARZ, Belhaven, Barbour, CelticLife.ca, The Algonquin Hotel, Gray Line, Walkers Shortbread, The Scottish Government, Scotland Now, St. Andrews Restaurant & Pub, and Stout NYC.
Stay tuned for more details and announcements.

Graham plays Douglas, the war chieftan of Clan MacKenzie. It never dawned on me that he was also Dwalin in The Hobbit. I am sure he will be kilted and not dressed up as Dwalin was!

Thank you for posting information about the Tartan Day Parade on April 11, 2015. I am a bit confused. That site mentions an associated Tattoo, but the NYC Tattoo is scheduled for May 22, 23. I was considering going, but it is a long trip and it would be nice to see as much as possible on one venture.

Okay, Ern....your mission, should you chose to accept it, is to get photographed standing next to Graham McTavish.

Well, I am probably dating myself, but my response to that is "where is Peter Graves when you need him"?

I know where Peter Graves is and no help there. You know I've never seen a MI movie with Tom Cruise. Not a fan of TC; but I digress. Sorry,
