2014 Sierra Nevada Backpacking Trip-kilted
The Luminous Joan and I do this every summer! The scenery is much more gorgeous than I am, but this is a kilt forum so you gotta look at ME. YUuuuuuuuck.
Yours Truly at the top of Rockbound Pass, 8600 feet. It was a CLIMB, about 1200 feet. whew!

Here's moi, the next day, looking down into the lake that would serve as "home base" for three days of day-hiking.

Joan at the same place, as above...just looking out over the Rubicon Valley, instead of down into Lake Schmidell.

Here's a rest stop along Day Hike #1, down into the valley that Joan is looking out into, above.

And in what is SURE to be everybody's favorite Kilt Picture of 2014....Me. Cooling My Head.
Refrain from comments, please. LOL

Me, post-dunking...

Day Hike #2... looking down into our lake from the trail above it. Our campsite is behind the rocks on the far right.

The goal for day hike #2....these lakes at about 9,000 feet. The hike goes over a cleft in the ridge above our lake at about 9400 feet and then drops down into those two jewels. It was WINDY. Like...really windy. REALLY windy.

And finally, Yours Truly once again, looking outdoorsy, if not clean, in digicamo. Be glad that you can't smell me!

I wore SHORTS on the hike out, as it was literally blowing 50-60 mph or more on Rockbound Pass and there are limits to this kilt thing.....
Can't wait until next summer!

Great shots of great country. At least if someone challenges you to the ice bucket challenge you can say you had your from god's ice bucket.

Those are great photos, Alan. I love the one of you dunking your head! Sometimes a man has got to do what a man has to do!

Absolutely cracking shots, Alan! Makes me miss the mountains and wild places (far away from concrete and humans) even more.
Cheers,
