    2015 Pacific Nortwest Highland Games

    A few pics.

    Here they come!

The great Jack Lee, marching with the Simon Fraser University Pipe band.

In the dead center of this picture is my friend Patrick Tougher, singing "Flower of Scotland" while the Saltire is raised. Patrick came to the U.S. from Hamilton, near Glasgow as a teenager in 1949. He is a U.S. Army veteran, an active SAMS member, and a great friend of the PNW games. He also sings beautifully, and his Scottish accent is still very much intact.

    2015 Pacific Northwest Highland Games

    A few more.

We saw a few cabers properly turned.

The women having a relaxed round of weight for height.

    SFU in the circle.

    Drum corps getting it done.

I thought this laddie was looking good in his Glengarry and German Heritage tartan.

Myself and my friend Carry, who I have known since early childhood. Her two children are 1/4 MacDonald, and she has developed an interest in things Scottish, even if they haven`t.

Yes, thank you for taking time to post the pictures. It's been 24 years since I attended, and I remember how big (and fun) the games were.

One of the biggest (if not THE biggest) Games on the West Coast. The massed bands is a force and a sight to behold. I remember trying to tune up in the practice area for the solo piping competition and not being able to hear a damn thing, with a couple of hundred pipers in an area the size of a football field endzone (only a slight exaggeration!). It's a treat to be able to see from Grade V bands (the lowest grade) up to the Grade I bands (for example, Simon Fraser University, several times World Champion) and hear what the difference is. Plus, good entertainment, a variety of vendors and some fine food options. It's been too long, I'll have to make it back next year.

I hope you do. We were their early for the solo piping, but with about a dozen pipers performing at once, and everyone else tuning up, it`s pretty hard to take in. The word " cacophony" comes to mind.
