2016 43rd Virginia Scottish Games – Pics
The weather in Central Virginia for Labor Day Weekend was perfect for the 43rd Scottish Games even as Tropical Storm Hermine swept our coast line.
To paraphrase an old movie title – “Pop it up & they will come”

Sure enough! My first visitors were Madadh & one of his lads, Dierenoch (Gaelic – last of many) Hmm .. reminds me of my ex’s.

Rob blew me away in presenting me for my past hospitality at this event with this sporran he made with my Clan Crest on the flap. Beautiful! The bag is hide from a Scottish Coo. The fur is rabbit. I’m really chuffed. Thanks, Rob! It’s now my official Clan Convener sporran!

Holcombe Thomas came by.

We had a good turn out for our XMTS Meet Up on Saturday.

L 2 R - Mael Coluim, Mirthlesstroll, Slothead, Orvis, Sir William, Sean McCallum, Drwill4, Madadh & Dierenoch

A few pics of Saturday’s Clan Parade

Our Tent had a great view of the Games.

Mark Henderson was late for Meet Up photo, but not the whisky and pretty lady.

Matt & Jenny Elliott of the Scottish Trading Company (advertisers here) had their vendor tent nearby.

My kinsman Sean McCallum literally rode in for the Games and had his kilt tucked in a pannier.

Sunday is a much more lay back day. I switched from my Malcolm modern tartan to a MacCallum ancient tartan kilt.

The Glengarry Bhoys from Ontario returned to our venue. A crowd favorite.

We were serenaded at our tent by one of pipe bands

Sunday XMTS Meet Up
SVC40bt and I performed a very lame “Hamish”; damn whisky!

John helped me load and break camp. Thanks, John!
A great Games Weekend!
