4 Yard box Pleat in Bali
My wife and I spent the last 4 weeks in Bali, Indonesia and I decided to take along a Matt Newsome, 4 yard box pleated kilt in Paterson (personal) tartan.
I wore it most nights out to dinner, which created quite a stir on the the streets and beach. I received many questions and compliments from both locals and tourists. None of the locals had ever seen a kilt and it was hard to explain what is was. One interesting event occured whilst we were there and that was the night of the full moon where all hotel staff dress in the Indonesian national dress. When I was asked what I was wearing on that night I simply replied I was in Scotlands National dress for the full moon, they all seemed to understand.

That is so very cool Mike!
You'd think that in this day and age that just about everyone has some idea what a kilt is. What a great experience! ....and I agree, it is a very handsome tartan!

Crackin' pictures Mike.
I tried wearing a Kilt in Turkey this summer gone. Far too hot for my weak and feeble, Northern Hemisphere constituition. I assume Bali was either not so redders or you are well acclimatised already.

Mike, you are KILLING me with these pix! Kilted, and in the nice warm tropics, a nice deep tan, no doubt relaxing by the water with a tinnie or two... If you tell me you were diving as well that would just do me in. I LOVE Indonesian food BTW
Just to frame it for you;
It's a balmy 14*f here this morning and the ground has been frozen solid for nearly a week.
Great tartan, a fantastic choice of kilt (4yd) to take, it looks like a month VERY well spent. Thanks for sharing these

The weather in Bali at this time of the year averages about 34C during the day. The 4 yard kilt was ideal and I never felt uncomfortable in it. As I said I mainly wore it out to dinner as during the day I was indulging in water activities, surfing, swimming and yes Scott, 4 dives. It was also not feasible to travel by Bali's usual method of transport in a kilt (not for me anyhow)
