Last night the Flame-Haired Celtic Amazon Goddess and I went to a dinner party celebrating a friend's 40th birthday party. We were encouraged to dress up for the occassion so I thought I would put my new formal outfit to use again. The F-H.C.A.G. donned another cocktail dress and off we went.
We`were two of only five americans at the party. The majority were german and french, with a sprinkling of Indian and Turks. Everyone loved my formal kilted outfit and assumed I was a Scot. One french couple described how they had lived in Scotland for a year, and how friendly the people were, and how beautiful the country was. I was asked if I was "wearing the kilt properly" in a good natured manner by a few of the ladies. I replied to all that "Nothing is worn under the kilt, it's all in good working order" to much laughter. There was good drink, good food, and lots of dancing. The majority of the music was "world beat" which was lively and fun. We did a few west coast swings but the majority of dancing was freestyle or latin. My samba (as with all my latin dances) wasn't terribly good to start with, and the ten years that have elapsed since I last attempted this dance have not improved it. We stayed out far too late we had a lovely time.
Here are a few pictures:
