5 Yard Heather Isles tartan casual kilt
Hi all-
Some of you may have read about my ordeal picking up 2 pieces of remnant Heather Isles tartan pieces that I picked up. You can check out the post under "Lesson learned". Anyway, here is the final result-I made this using my new measurements since my weight gain and fits wonderfully-

I lean my hip to the left, so every pleat shot I ever do looks like the kilt is slanting left. Its just the way I'm standing. Sorry also about the pleat puff-Its SUPER windy today and a breeze kicked up just as the pic was taking. All in all, I'm happy. You can see where the fabric is a little longer at the bottom middle pleat where the material was joined. I was able to slowly bring the fabric up by slowly compensating. The result was a couple of the pleat's horizontal lines are not "perfectly" in line....All in all its just good to have a Heather Isles tartan kilt again and perfect for spring and early summer!!

Mental note-Do note eat Indian food while wearing this kilt!!!!

Nice tartan and I really like the pleating to the stripe.

I would never guess the two bits of tartan didn't line up - very well done!

The fabric was from 2 different bolts. The selvage on 1 was 1/4 an inch, and the other was almost 1/2!!!! So when I joined, there was a little more than a quarter of an inch of fabric past the joined end. So when I evened the selvage, the rest of the sett was thrown off. I just had to sorta to compensate on both and slowly work the fabric up while pleating to get the stripes to line up. Its pretty noticeable to the trained eye if you're looking. Anyway, The material was a deal, and this is my favorite tartan. I hope to get plenty of wear out of it for the next few months until I start slimming again!!!!

Nice Work
Nice work Josh. I was not sold on this tartan based on some photos elsewhere that showed it much lighter. I like it quite a bit after seeing these pictures. I read the Lessons Learned thread, but it looks like you pulled this off well. I doubt anyone who didn't know the story would guess.

Seriously, I would not have noticed if you hadn't mentioned anything. Great work, and thanks for the pics.

Well done! The only way anyone would really notice is if you are in a static state: i.e. in a picture. I do not think anyone would notice while in a dynamic state.
Very nice tartan, btw. I can see why you love it.

A beautiful kilt in a beautiful tartan.
I also wouldn't have noticed anything "wrong" with it. You did a great job at disguising the different materials. It's odd, isn't it, that two bolts would vary that much? Or is tartan always like that?
BTW I notice you're wearing solid hose... I'm sure you've got cool diced hose in works!
