53rd Pioneer Festival at Black Creek
So yesterday was the 53rd Annual Pioneer Festival at Black Creek Pioneer Village. Catherine and I went up in the spring so I won't put up many photos. There was a quilt auction, one quilt went for $4,550 all the proceeds going to charity. It was a great day, we came away from the day with two bottles of Apple Cider, Sauerkraut, and a few other odds and sods. The food was good and the prices were more than reasonable. It's funny how many comments I got about the kilt, even though this was more a German festival than anything else. Here are a few photos.

I tried getting a photo of this last time, but that was before we got the new camera, it's amazing what a good camera will do.

This house was in the hands of a Scottish family for close to 200 years, the last inhabitants died off a few years ago and it was given to Black Creek Pioneer Village, they are now in the process of restoring the inside to original specifications. This part of the tour was not open to the general public but if you took the wagon ride you got to see it.

This was another home that was left to Black Creek

This barn is one of the oldest in Ontario, it's being worked on as well.

If you look closely through the trees you can just make out the graveyard where the original settlers are burried

That's about all the photos I've got, thanks for looking.

Great Pictures!.. I would have liked seeing this, myself. I smiled at the shot of the vat and the one stirring the pot has tennis shoes on.. LOL.. I really enjoy seeing the period clothing and activities being portrayed.. no matter the era....Thanks for posting these..

Great pics, Glen. Did these German settlers come over in the 1840's like those that settled Frankenmuth in MI? Between Houston and San Antonio along the I-10 corridor are several German-Czech communities that also originated in the mid-19 C.
