The picture above was taken this Saturday at a meeting of the charity organization “Zonnedekens” (freely translated: Sunny Blankets). We make blankets, using different techniques (here patchwork and quilting) which are donated to children who are hospitalized frequently or for a long time due to serious illnesses as cancer, cystic fibrosis,... We hope that the blankets will procure some comfort to the children during the difficult times.
I find it important to wear a kilt during these gatherings. It has asymbolic value: a kilt is also a blanket. It is one that is long and pleated that we wrap around ourselves. Wearing one brings me emotionally closer to the ones we make the blankets for.
Since I am on this forum I have seen many times that it unites good spirited people from around the world. Let us use our goodness to brighten the life of others. “Zonnedekens” proves that a simple piece of fabric can make a difference.
People who want to know more about the organization can find information in the Dutch language on http://www.zonnedekens.be/ or on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/Zonne...57550194309766. People who are interested but who do not understand Dutch can contact me directly for more information.

This hits home for me. We have several quilters in our famiy, some of them do it professionally.

Very good post, my friend. I love it. We have a similar charity here.
