    Apaches and Navajos and Kilts

Today, in my little corner of the Earth there was a big celebration - the 50th Anniversary of the Navajo Nation Tribal Park Service.

An old rug (huge) woven in 1920 formed the back of the dias.

There were lots of dignitaries and honchos and speaches. And there was dancing.

The Apache Crown Dancers were invited to dance too.

I like them because they're unbifurcated, and they dance to heal - particularly the babies in attendance...

And here I am in my USA Kilts semi-trad in Calidonia with Miss Western Navajo

Lots of positive comments from the Navajo folks, the usual request for pictures and some double takes. A fun day of celebration.

That hat REALLY does look great, especially with the kilt. I think that I will have to attempt to emulate you now that the weather is getting so warm, and the sun so intense.

riverkilt has an amazing ability to combine comfort and cultures. how could anyone dislike this guy? not only does he encourage me to wear a kilt more often, he makes me want to head out to the desert.

Imagine that, you head to a wonderful event and end out getting a picture with a beauty queen. Thanks so much for sharing.

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

That he does! Charisma and confidence is a wonderful thing. It allows you to fit into any situation with class and grace. If James Bond wore a kilt, he would be Ron! A wise man once gave me some words of wisdom that Ron seems to have figured out a long time ago. "Walk in like you own the place... and don't give a damn if anybody else does the same".

And yes, his shots ALMOST make me want to back to the desert. ALMOST

I know, right? You could send this guy solo to the moon with a kilt and within 10 minutes he'd have photos of ladies at his side. LOL

Teach me, Obi-Wan... I have much to learn.

Great to see ya in the kilt, lovely lady with you in the photo. The rug is fantastic. Just bought a floor loom and have been reading about natural plant dyes so looking at the beautiful colors and the weave is quite a treat. Thank you for sharing and thank the wonderful folks there for sharing their great culture too.....

This is why I don't post pictures - how could I ever top Ron's?
