    Archangel pix

Thanks to Kiltphoto, I now have a place to store some photos. Here's a couple to share right now.
The first one has been on here before, I believe. I'm wearing a Canadian Army surplus Maple Leaf kilt. The sporran is the best, from R-Kilt, army surplus web belt. The pins are the sword through McGregor crest and the Year of the Veteran pin that I got with my Canadian citizenship.
The second is from my daughter's wedding. The jacket I picked up in a bookshop (?) in St. Jacobs for $40. It's a perfect fit and I don't think it's ever been worn. My son-in-law is wearing his friend's utilikilt, something they decided on the spur of the moment to do to honour me that day. Cool. His friend, the Best Man, rented one for himself and loaned the one he had as a child to my grandson.

Looking good. I didn't realize that any in the CF wore he Maple
Leaf. I'm liking the look of the web belt with the ML, I might have to steal that idea.

I like them both. I especially like the fact that you are not the only male Kilted at your daughter's wedding.

Very cool! Thanks for the pics. You realize, of course, that the tattoo buffs will now want to see close-ups!

Some of the regiments still have their traditional tartans. The Forces pipe band uses this as opposed to specific regimental bands. It looks like in one of the amalgamations, they dropped the Black Watch and adopted the Maple Leaf.

Nobody's officially worn kilts in combat since Dunkirk. Of course, there has been some mavericks since and, I'm not sure about the Pacific Theatre of WW11.

Apparently, they no longer use buckle up fitted kilt but now use one size fits all, velcro ones.

Somebody can probably tidy up my comments.

This is a pic from the RCR (home page) and there are more pics here.

    There were three others.

Like I said earlier, the groom (red tie) and the best man (black tie) decided to be kilted to respect me, which is kind of cool. The best man, I'm pretty sure, is Scottish born or, at least his parents are. He loaned his kilt to the groom and rented one for himself. The best man also persuaded his mom to let my grandson wear the kilt he had when he was the same age.

You can tell we share the same attitude to kilt rules: wearing a kilt alone is formal enough.

Best line: grandson was doing somersaults and one of the ladies commented that now she knew what we wear under the kilt. Best man said, "Yep, we all wear Huggees Pull-ups."

That picture of the RCR pipe band in maple lead tartan is spectacular (as the rest of the pictures on the RCR site). I've only seen one other picture of a pipe band in maple leaf, but these are by far the best.

The white tunics are so striking, and I love the sashes. Also, the red-and-green diced hose atop the spats are cool. I'm wondering where to get some, although as I look closely, I'm wondering whether the green matches that of the maple leaf.

Anyway, thanks for posting. I love all these pics.

Custom made from Scottish Tartans Museum. http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/hose.htm More info from Matt's blog
    http://blog.albanach.org/archive/200...r_archive.html

Kiltstore lists "hose tops" or "half hose" in diced or tartan, I dunno how they go on. http://kiltstore.net/sr_strut_hosetops.html
