Barb on the the AAAS web site
Hi guys!
If you go to the American Association for the Advancement of Science web site at
http://www.sciencemag.org/
you might see a familiar face in the picture gallery on the home page (depends on when you look - right now, it's the first picture in the gallery). If the picture is gone from the home page, you can see it half way down our paper at
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/conten.../327/5969/1095
The NSF-funded project that I've been one of the principal investigators on for the past 8 years has just won a huge award from AAAS for the web site that we've created that has online resources for teaching undergraduate geoscience. If you're interested, the article at the second URL above describes that we've been doing.

Well done you. It is nice to leave something tangible behind that makes the world a little better for the generations that follow. As educators we get to not only mold the minds of our students but also write scientific papers or books/educational media that can provide longer lasting effects. Congrats.

Well done... after 8 years of hard work I'm sure you deserved it!
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Barb,
A well deserved honor for "one of the few, the proud, with brains for rocks...."
I know you have been working on this for a long time.
Now, I only have one question.....
Does this honor come with a cool medal that you can wear with your pipe band uniform? Now that would be something special.

Well, that would be swell, but, ahh, no. Just minor bragging rights.
