Last Saturday was our local "Dauphin Street Beer Fest" - 17th year. The wife wore her "biker" outfit, and since I'm now the proud owner of a Kilt, naturally, this year I went kilted!
To set the stage, the event is downtown and started at 6 pm - air temperature 85-90 degrees, 70-80% humidity, lots of walking between venues, and lots of cold beer! Absolutely the most "informal" I've worn yet. I'm looking forward to the fall and winter when I can take a shot at a slightly more traditional look.
As for the evening, it was fantastic. Spoke to dozens of people who otherwise would never have said a word. Was twice asked advice by men interested in buying themselves a Kilt. Got kilt-checked once on the dance floor by some young women... Just remembered that.... AND, heard some great bands, and sampled a dozen or so craft beers. My favorite of the evening - Great Divide Claymore Scotch Ale.
On the whole, positive comments were running better than 20:1 vs. negative. Only heard the "S" word once or twice!
