BIG Kiltie at the Glasgow Show

We met this tall fellow at the Glasgow Show at Glasgow Green yesterday!

I guess there could be more than 8 yards of fabric there!
He also played a few simple tunes on his bagpipes!

This venue will be filled with the sound of over a hundred pipe bands at the World Pipe Band Championships on 11th August. Here all eyes are focussed on a stuntman on a high pole.

The Big Wheel. There was a huge funfair, rock and pipe bands, a display of fire engines etc. etc.

However we only got to see the show briefly during our lunchbreak as we were kept busy all day crewing Glasgow City Council's heritage buses shuttling the public between the city centre and the showground.
I have tried kilted bus driving previously but found the kilt rather impractical for clambering in and out of the driving cabs of the old buses.

Gabrielle with the 1958 Daimler which we crewed for the first part of the day.

The guys looked the part in their Glasgow Corporation Transport Department uniforms.

Later in the afternoon I drove this 1959 Leyland on a couple of trips to and from town. Seen here in front of Glasgow City Chambers at George Square.

We also did a round trip with the open topper.

The day passed all too quickly and it seemed no time at all till we were back in the depot and putting the buses to bed. I had driven all four of them during the course of the day.
Regional Director for Scotland for Clan Cunningham International, and a Scottish Armiger.

    Blimey!! 'Ees a big lad.

I understand that the Kilt might not be the most practical garment for bus driving... But it is most unusual to see you be-trousered Alex.

Please pass best regards to Gabrielle (and yourself of course) from Mrs EB and me!

Big is an understatement! He makes those grownups look almost child-sized in comparison. Wow!

A rare day indeed in Scotland, Alex in trousers. Thanks for the pics of the day Alex, you are certainly a versatile lad when it comes to driving buses.
