Box Pleat Kilt In Gray Auld Lang Syne tartan...Cali style!

    Hi all-
I've recently completed 2 more kilts in my spare time to fit my new....um...measurements. 1 is a 6 yard knife pleat in Ancient Caledonia (I've reviewed a pair of hose in the accessories section-I'm wearing that one with the hose if you want to see it), and the other is this one - A box pleat in Gray auld Lang Syne. This was actually a first for me using 13 OZ material, and the result is really nice. NOTICEABLY lighter than my 16 OZ norms, and VERY comfortable. The pleats hold nicely, BUT......the wrinkle factor is there more so than 16 OZ fabric. I drove about an hour wearing the kilt and noticed that the wrinkle crease never really went away until I got home hung and left it hanging for a day. That aside, it really is a GREAT springtime kilt that I can kick around in with my flip flops. I call it "Cali Style"-

Nice Hamish II. I like the Auld Lang Syne tartan. Few seem to know of it, it can be as hard to get as the California tartan.

Interesting that your sig line says to wear diced hose... then you don't wear hose at all. "Do as I say, not as I do."?

Just funnin'. Flip flops look good and are sounding more and more reasonable as it warms up down here.

Oh, and "two more kilts in my spare time"? phtphtphtpht!

Bob has been known to rock that Cali style, especially at our clan beach parties.

But Josh -- lighten up! Learn to smile for the camera!

Well, exactly. Forever wearing solid-coloured hose or no hose at all... then putting together more really nice kilts IN HIS SPARE TIME!! I don't know what to say about this guy. He clearly has talent and time 'cause that kilt is looking good.

(That didn't come off sounding all jealous or anything, did it? )

What? Right here in San Diego? When/where is this? Why wasn't I invited?

Oh, wait, maybe I don't want an answer to that last question

Man.....I have sooooo many pairs of diced, triced, argyll hose, etc. But my hose are 100% woolies and around this time of the year, I stop wearing wool kilts and hose and change to PV kilts and flip flops! I take that back-If I'm heading to the city (San Fran for all you non Bay Area folks)' its usually cool enough to wear my wool in the summertime. Sacramento is a whole different story...110' weather will be here soon......

    But I am smiling....

OK-Here ya' go. This should take care of me lightening up AND wearing diced hose. This was last sunday at the Sacramento tartan day picnic wearing one of my "new" kilts to fit my enlarged body I made a couple of weeks ago.

The "Cali" style is not only comfortable but good looking too. As Sydnie7 says I enjoy going that route from time to time. That is a darn nice looking kilt you have there.

My box pleated kilts are 80/20 Machine/hand stitched, and "IF" conditions are right, ie. no little daughter distracting me, good general mood, good dinner the night before, I can make one in the course of a full day!!!
