Burns Dinner 2014 - Victoria, BC
This was our first Burns dinner in Canada. All previous events have always been celebrated in Japan with the St. Andrews Society of Tokyo and Yokohama. We attended a rather large event (500+ people) hosted by the Greater Victoria Police Pipe Band, for whom this is a major fundraiser event.
I wore my PC, but more interestingly, it was a chance to wear my brand new dusky pink hose from House of Bruar. Someone in the other thread mentioned that it might look cool to wear it with the Cthulhu tartan... Well, here it is. Cthulhu tartan kilt (Matt Newsome, 5-yard Kingussie), dusky pink hose (House of Cheviot), black muskrat sporran (L&M Highland via. Freedom Kilts), octopus pendant (Etsy), and white & silver paisley bow tie (Ebay).
For special effect, appropriate to my choice of attire, it was a very foggy evening.
A very good event, too. We all had a great time.

Lookin' good C. I especially like the pink hose and the white bowtie. Way to rock the kilt!

The rest of the crew.
L to R are Jackson (kiltedwolfman) wearing the Hawse memorial Tartan, Bobbie (kilted knome) wearing a Ruana in the Victoria, City of Gardens Tartan, Steve (The Wizard of BC) wearing the USMC Dress Blue Tartan , Justin (Kiltmaker Justin) wearing Stewart Black, and a faithful FK customer.

Excellent pics, looks like a good night had by all.
Jim, I think I recognise the standing stone which you are posed beside, is that just off the Patricia Bay Highway where you turn off for Sidney town centre?

That's right. It's in front of the Mary Winspear Centre, where the event was held...

500+ attending,...sounds like a high energy event.
The hose add a nice touch of color.
I see the Freedom Kilts crew (or should I say rogue's gallery?) is well turned out as usual.

Last time I was on the island, after the 2012 Victoria Games, when we were leaving to go home, a cousin drove me and Gabriele from Sooke and dropped us off at the Travelodge across the road from there, where we met up with xmarker Sevenoaks and his wife and travelled with them on the ferry to Tsawwassen.

Here are a couple of pictures of my wife and I before the event. I am in band gear (except for the fancy footwear) but couldn't play.

500 plates? Must have taken some organising, I'll bet that was a bash and a half... The Burns do, not the splint Macman, although that quite looks painful.
