Burns Night at the Celtic Knot - Evanston, Illinois
Well, this is the second Burns night I've been to - went to the Globe Pub for one last night - 11th Hour took the pics so hopefully there will be a thread up soon. This is the third year I've been to the Knot. My nephew, Seamus, sang, played the bodhran and declaimed Burns poems in the past, but is in Berlin this year. (Sorry for the red eye in the photos.
Here is the slaying of the haggis

We had various singers (but I only photographed the kilties)

We had two bagpipers, Dan "Tex" Fields

and Elias Alexander (notice they were singers too)

One of the highlights was a battle of the bagpipers

An Irishman performed to a Mouse and Tam O' Shanter brilliantly

Tim Kazurinsky (of Saturday Night Live fame) did a brilliant and hilarious Toast to the Lassies

And finally, here I am (looking completely toasted - I swear, I only had two Laphroaigs) in a WPG Seaforth Highander (MacKenzie) kilt (it was 5º F), hose and garters from Matt Newsome, Ferguson Britt Canadian Beaver sporran, belt from Oconee Leather, a hunter green Argyle jacket, and a Ferguson Britt Tam.

Yes it is the same Tex. He and three other alums of Shillelagh Law have started a Rockabilly band. He told me last night they just put together their first album.

Looks like a great party.
I'm glad the guys in your family know how to do a Burns Supper.
Thanks for the pix. And hurry back to Atlanta for another evening with our branch of the rabble.
