Burns night warm up.
One of my buddies is deploying out soon so we decided to have a little warm up Burns night since he won't be around here for the real thing. This was his second time in a kilt with the first one being in a rental, and this one being in one he was given for Christmas.

Posing for the requisite beginning of the evening shot.

Me making some Scotch eggs, that thanks to some advice from a forum member turned out very tasty.

Bellied up to the bar to enjoy the first of many drams.

And a 2 dollar pin from Walmart that I think made a nice kilt pin.

They look to be sett in strange colours for the Campbell tartan varients. Do you know what mill theyre from?
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

Nice photos. I like the sign on the front of the bar. Please pass on to your buddy my thanks for his service.

He and I served together in Afghanistan, he was my tank driver and we've been great friends ever since. We gave him the kilt as a kind of " welcome to the tribe" idea since he has spent so much time with my family and I.

You both look good. I made Scotch eggs for a party last weekend, and they were very popular. Good speed and good luck to your friend.

You both look good, and to see a couple of warriors having a good time is always inspriational to us old geezers. Hope no one complained to the bartender.
BTW, I was in a tank company once--a lo-o-o-ong time ago--and even drove the thing in the dark all buttoned up using IR.
I transfered to the infantry shortly thereafter.
Thanks for the photos. Tell you friend that he will be in our prayers. Fair winds and following seas; and keep your head down and your powder dry.

Overheard in the officers club
"KILLMAN DID WHAT WITH THAT TANK?"

That actually happened to my Dad and two buddies in the army, who took a self-propelled howitzer for a joy ride around the reserve grounds. Of course, they also took fire from Marine Reserve artillery battery at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin.
