    Calgary CICB Breast Cancer Run/Walk - 2013

This year Lorna and I chose to volunteer, rather than do the walk itself. She helped out in the "Survivor's" Tent (she is now an 8 year survivor), while I was an wandering "Information" person. Many questions were about where to register, where the race start or finish was, but with the sign "Ask Me???", regularly had to answer the age old question - to which I used various replies depending upon who was asking. It is a great event, for a cause that impacts so very many. Over 8000 participated again this year, here in Calgary. Overall in Canada over $27 million was raised, but the event goes far beyond just raising money. It is a very public display of support for the women, (and a few men) currently battling the disease, a celebration for those who have conquered it, and a way to honour those who fought valiantly.

As always a kilt is a magnet for a picture. Another volunteer wore his Black Watch kilt - the only other kilt amongst the 8000 people there. Even the dogs get into the act.

Well done. My eldest daughter volunteered in the Toronto area this past weekend. No kilts were involved unfortunately.

Good for you and your wife, Liam! Great pictures, and I love your sign.
If I may post some pictures from the Victoria Run for the Cure?
Our pipe band led the dignitaries in. Yours truly front and center.

It was the sign that was given to all the "Information" volunteers.....

Nice photos. A worthy cause for your time. My wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. Fortunately, it was caught early enough that all it took for her was several courses of chemo therapy. Two decades later, she is still cancer free.
